Southern Specialties Inc., headquartered in Pompano Beach, FL, has added Florida-grown grape and teardrop tomatoes to its "Southern Selects" specialty tomato lineup. The new additions include "Southern Selects" conventional red grape tomatoes as well as "Southern Selects" organic red grape tomatoes and yellow grape tomatoes. The company will also introduce "Southern Selects" organic red and yellow teardrop tomatoes, which are available in a conventional style as well. Southern Specialties has produced a new label for the "Southern Selects" organic tomato line that shares a "family feel" with the popular "Southern Selects" label found on the company's conventional products. A version of the new label will be used with organic products the company may introduce in the future. "We have added to our tomato line in response to our customers' requests for more Florida-grown specialty tomatoes," Shannon Barthel, director of sales for Southern Specialties, said in a pres release. "Having a relationship with a tomato grower that can provide high-quality organic and conventional product provides additional value for us and our customers." Southern Specialties is a grower, shipper, importer and processor of a variety of produce grown in the United States, South America, Central America, Mexico and Canada. The company has distribution centers in Pompano Beach; McAllen, TX; and Los Angeles.
